The 21st annual event, one of the top-five Athena events in the United States, is presented by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and The Vindicator. It will culminate with the announcement of the 2013 winner of the Athena Award winner from among the 29 professional women nominated on May 23rd at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman, OH.

The Athena Award recognizes area business and professional women who have demonstrated excellence in their chosen careers, provided leadership in the community and mentored or contributed to the growth of other professional women.

Rachel Barber, VEC’s Accounts Receivable Manager/Corporate Secretary was nominated by her husband, Jeff Barber, VEC Vice President/Principle.

VEC celebrated JL Allen’s “60th Year Kick-Off Celebration” today!  Catered lunch was held at both locations, Girard OH and Tuscola IL, via video conference.  Team members were recognized and a celebratory toast was made by Rob Birchenough, VP JL Allen, for another successful 60 years!

VEC welcomes Mikaela Quinn Wright to our family.  Mikaela is the daughter of Joe Wright, Evets Project Manager.

Mikaela was born on April 4, 2013 at 9:22pm and weighs 6lbs 4.7oz, all are doing well.

VEC congratulates the Wright family and we cannot wait to meet her!

VEC held a leadership retreat off site in February.  The group met for two days reviewing goals and strategic objectives for 2013.  Information was brought back to the entire team and was communicated during a lunch and learn attended by all.

The 2013 Women In NECA (WIN) Leadership Summit brought together over 60 of the industry’s leading women intent on improving their own professional skills and making new connections with fellow WIN members. 

Summit session focused on how and why smart women stay connected. “Industry women who connect through WIN are more invested in their careers and businesses,” Barber said. “They take advantage of career opportunities and professional support, while striving to do their best in all aspects of their lives.”

VEC is excited to announce the promotion of Adam Davis to Director of Drafting & Design Services! Adam joined the VEC team 4 years ago and has since implemented a CAD-based layout solution, integrated BIM workflows, produced electrical design drawings for compressor stations, created 5D drawings that integrate time/cost/3D models, and has created design capabilities in Electrical/Mechanical/Structural/Civil fields for us.

Adam is now managing and developing our design team advancement to new BIM workflows and fabrication opportunities and capabilities.
