Valley Electrical Consolidated, Inc. (VEC) was founded in 1975 as an electrical contractor in the Youngstown, Ohio area, and primarily focused on the residential, commercial and industrial markets throughout the Mahoning Valley. Starting out as a small family business, VEC’s work could be seen in many of the steel mills throughout Mahoning and Trumbull counties and throughout the General Motors Lordstown plant. Mills, production lines and factory projects were prime opportunity at the beginning stages for VEC.
Over the years, diversification became key for survival within the Mahoning Valley. In 2001, VEC Systems Integrator was created to provide low voltage services and information technology for VEC and its customers. VEC SI has since been successful in establishing partners in the industry, earning product certifications and gaining tremendous credentials on local, regional and national levels.
In 2003, VEC acquired Evets Electric, Inc., a specialty electrical contractor focusing primarily in the Oil and Gas Industry. Evets Electric is highly qualified in hazardous location projects such as gas compressor stations, petroleum plants, refineries, airport fueling stations and fuel storage yards. Evets’s commitment to hazardous and industrial projects in the Oil & Gas industry, allows them to provide a dependable service to their customers throughout the country.
VEC’s target range of service had been within a 60mile radius from Youngstown, OH. There had been a few projects that VEC completed nationally, but the Mahoning Valley was home to the corporation. By acquiring Evets Electric and learning how a company successfully travels, VEC has expanded its growth to a national level; as a corporation and as an electrical industry leader.
Rex A. Ferry, CEO and President of Valley Electrical Consolidated, Inc., purchased the company in 1990 and has committed his life to the electrical industry. Rex’s electrical career began as an IBEW apprentice in 1969 and was elected President of the National Electrical Contractors Association for the 2009 through 2011 term.
